Old Aldenhamians - League (H)

After some rain in the week, Tolworth was unavailable for the LOBs, after some searching and negotiation, we found a grass pitch by Kings House Sports Ground available for a 1:15pm kick off. We had a strong side for the game, with Tom Hall, Dan Clifford, Alex Bilton and Luke Haddow all available, as well as the LOBs regulars, so going into the game we felt confident.

The game started strong, it was a small pitch so there was plenty of promising action for both sides. After some nice play in the first half, Alex Bilton found himself one on one with their goalkeeper, he opened up his body and shaped with left but unfortunately it trickled wide. Our nice football came down our wings, with Oskar Berelowtitz on the left causing the defence problems with his tricky dribbling and Luke Haddow on the right creating opportunities.

Aldenhamians also created their own chances and managed to convert an opportunity to make the score 1-0 before half time. At half-time the LOBs regrouped and re-strategised, looking to create in behind. A cagey second half followed the first. With plenty of big challenges and scrappy football, chances were available for both sides. Brad pulled off some big saves and eventually the LOBs pulled one back, making the score 1-1, through Dom Clarke, with 10 minutes to play.

The last 10 was full of scrappy play with Frankie playing a loose back pass to Brad in net, the ball fell to their winger whose shot was fortunately blocked on its way to goal. A huge shift from the whole side, including the solid as ever, Ryan and Tom Hall at the back. It was good to see Disco get some minutes too and involve himself in the build up play for the goal. A good performance to start the year from the LOBs and an important point picked up.
