Old Johnians - Arthur Dunn Cup 1st Round (A)

A strong LOBs side turned up at the River Lane Stadium to take on a side 24 places above us in the Arthurian League 'pyramid'. Unfortunately the Johnians aren't allowed to play at St John's so have to make do with a caged in 3G pitch just down the road. But on a damp blustery day the LOBs took an early advantage scoring from a good move down the left in the first five minutes, Elian Carniel with the honours. Amazingly that lead was doubled around 25 minutes later after Taylor Hope scored his first of the season, and we went in at half-time with a well deserved two goal advantage. The second half didn't disappoint, and with the Johnians creating more, and better chances, they began to get frustrated, twice by the woodwork, and a goal for the home side with around 15 minutes to go kept the 'crowd' interested, but a gutsy performance by the LOBs saw them hold on and progress into the 2nd Round. #UTLOBs
