Old Alleynians II - League (H)

On 15th November, Lancing Old Boys took on Old Alleynians down at Tolworth. With a recent win behind them the LOBs were looking to seek revenge for their heavy defeat to Alleynians earlier the season.

The LOBs came out slower than Alleynians and after some pressure and some nice dribbling their centre midfielder rifled the ball into the bottom left. Not long after they doubled their lead, from an inswinging cross from the left which an untracked centre midfielder latched his head onto from 12 yards out, bouncing down and in off the crossbar. Two good goals from them, but it felt like we could have done more to prevent them.

Alas, the LOBs worked our way into the game and began creating chances. Will Bainbridge looked sharp up front, believe it or not. Scooter was dangerous down the left wing. With a centre back pairing of Steven Crosby and Will Brook, we were able to comfortably play out from the back. And Brad was able to keep the scoreline at just 2-0 with some important saves.

The score was 2-0 at the break and we swiftly went into the second half with the aim to try and get back into the game and play with the ball and make it enjoyable out there. Creative juices flowed at times, Frankie Tudball and Will Bainbridge linked up, with Will beating a man, getting to the byline and crossing a ball to the near past, but Frankie was unable to connect with it. We created a bit but not enough to look like scoring.

As the game continued, Alleynians also created chances, they got their third after the 70th minute mark, in a bizarre goal, in which their striker kicked the ball into his own face from inside the six yard box, his attempt snuck in to make it 3-0 Alleynians.

A solid effort from the Lancing side against a strong Alleynians team which consistently finds itself near the top end of our table.
