Old Sennockians- Junior League Cup R3 (H)

With it being Frankie’s last game before travelling, the LOBs were keen to see him off well in a cup game against Old Sennockians. We had a great side out for the game with plenty of prowess. And that was evident from the first whistle, we played good football and were able to get forward and look dangerous.

Our pivotal issue however, was our lack of goalkeeper, with Will Honychurch the ginger David Seaman in goal, we knew we had to protect him. We did reasonably well, until we conceded a couple of free kicks, which with the wind, sailed over the keeper and into the back of the LOBs net. With a solid keeper, there’s no doubt these would have been easily kept out, but props to Will for stepping up.

Before the break, we brought a goal back, after a high foot in the box and indirect free kick was awarded to the LOBs - not something you see too often - and from the indirect free kick Josh Shand slotted the ball into the back of the net. At half time the score was 2-1 and the LOBs felt confident.

We continued to play positively, but pressed on searching for an equaliser, we also left gaps across the pitch. Whilst we pressed, Sennockians created and on the break they scored, making the score 3-1. The LOBs pushed hard till the end and almost got one back when Frankie jinked his way past a player or two, ran at the defence and managed to get a shot away. Struck well it looked like it could have gone into the bottom corner, but their goalkeeper was solid and made a comfortable save down to his left.

Unfortunately one more goal was not meant to be and the score finished 3-1 OS’.
