Lancing College 1st XI - Friendly (A)
With some confidence built following a positive draw vs Aldenhamians, the LOBs played their second game of the New Year against the current Lancing side. From the off, Lancing were at it, pressing high and winning the ball high, chances were created by them but they weren’t able to convert any.
That was until the 25th minute, when their left winger volleyed a shot into the net from a lovely weighted cross. Going uphill in the first half, the LOBs struggled to create very much and couldn’t seem to pose any real trouble to the Lancing side. And rather than playing direct, we looked to play through the press, which proved tricky on a bobbly pitch. At half time the score was still 1-0 to the home side.
The LOBs came out much stronger in the second half, and chances were more apparent. Cal Nichols and Freddie Browne were able to break through the lines and attack at the Lancing defence, but were unable to break through and create any clear cut opportunities.
Thanks to some graceful time wasting and gamesmanship, as well as strong individual performances from the Lancing side, they kept the score at 1-0 and went onto win the game. A very impressive performance from the current Lancing side and a lacklustre one from the LOBs but a great day out for all involved.
